About Virginia
Virginia speaks English and Portuguese.
Virginia Simmonds' journey into spinal and back care began far from the treatment room. A successful career in the international hospitality industry meant she spent years travelling Europe inspecting hotels and opening restaurants. Where exceptional standards and attention to detail, and a real care for people were essential. Clean kitchens, spotless rooms, and systems that worked perfectly were her daily focus.
A difficult health issue, with Virginia's heart, was a turning point. It brought a realisation that life was about more than immaculate workspaces and demanding schedules. Health had to come first. But the high standards she had lived by did not disappear, they simply shifted emphasis.
So what was next? How did this career shift happen? Virginia's path into back care began with a chance encounter. A friend who had recovered from excruciating back pain introduced her to various spinal therapy machines. Probably like you – being curious and cautious, Virginia tried some sessions herself to address her own persistent back pain. Obtained perhaps as a legacy of years spent in professional kitchens. The results were life-changing. In so many ways.
Inspired, Virginia trained extensively under Damian Mearns, gaining the expertise needed to help others find the same relief and renewed freedom of movement she had experienced. She went on to successfully run her own back care clinics in Portugal, supporting clients with back pain, spinal issues, and scoliosis through non-invasive, carefully tailored treatment.
Now based in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, Virginia brings her experience, compassion, and high standards to clients across the Chiltern Hills, Chesham, Chorleywood, Rickmansworth and North West London. Her clinic is built on one simple belief: people deserve the same level of care, precision, and respect when it comes to their bodies as the very best hotels offer their guests.
Therapies Virginia uses include:
ASMI (primary therapy)
ASMI (Advanced Spinal Mobilisation) is used as the primary approach for many clients with back pain and scoliosis. The aim is to improve spinal mobility and comfort in a non-invasive way.
Theraflex reflex therapy
Theraflex-style reflex therapy uses gentle mechanical input in different modes (relaxing muscles, stimulating reflexes, and mobilising stiffness) to support spinal control and movement.
Therapeutic ultrasound
Therapeutic ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to promote healing deep within the tissues. It can help reduce inflammation, ease muscle spasms, and improve blood flow to the affected area — supporting recovery alongside other therapies.
Other supportive therapies
Depending on your presentation, sessions may include simple movement guidance, pacing, breathing and comfort-focused strategies — always consent-led.
